TALISAYAN – PT Teladan Prima Agro Tbk (TLDN) or TPA continues to demonstrate its commitment to environmental conservation as part of its sustainability practices. Through its subsidiary, PT Tanjung Buyu Perkasa Plantation (TBPP), the company carried out a mangrove seedling planting activity at the De’Mangroop area, Dumaring Village, Talisayan District, on Saturday (31/1/2026).
The activity, conducted in collaboration with the Berau Environmental and Sanitation Agency (DLHK), local government Dumaring Village and PLTD Sambaliung, resulted in the planting of 500 mangrove seedlings. This environmental conservation movement aims to foster shared responsibility between the private sector and local government in preserving coastal ecosystems and strengthening green land cover in the Bumi Batiwakkal region.
For TPA, mangrove planting and other corporate sustainability initiatives are essential components of implementing business practices based on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles. In this regard, TPA has incorporated these efforts through its internal company policy, the Sustainable Palm Oil Policy (Kebijakan Sawit Lestari/KSL). The KSL initiative includes reducing greenhouse gas emissions, conserving biodiversity, and managing resources sustainably.
Beyond environmental conservation in surrounding areas, TPA has also designated areas within its concessions as high conservation value (HCV) zones. HCV areas within TPA include secondary forests, riparian zones, mangroves, and areas with local cultural value. These HCV areas also encompass high carbon stock (HCS) areas, which play a role in carbon sequestration.
Meanwhile, Head of the Berau DLHK, Mustakim Suharjana, stated that Dumaring Village plays a significant role in maintaining green land cover along the Berau coastline. In addition to serving as a natural barrier against abrasion, mangroves also function as carbon sinks and habitats for marine biota, supporting the livelihoods of fishing communities. He also expressed his appreciation for the activity, noting that such collaboration is key to the success of sustainable environmental development.
“Success in protecting the environment cannot be achieved by the government alone. Synergy with the community and the business sector is crucial to preserving Bumi Batiwakkal,” he emphasized, as quoted from the portalberau—online website on Tuesday (4/2/2026).
